Maslow, Awakening and The Plateau Experience

A wonderful half-hour interview by New Thinking Allowed host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD.  In the interview, along with his research leading to the Finder’s Course, and his own shift in consciousness, Dr. Jeffery Martin talks about Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs and the final/ultimate tier added prior to his death: the Transcendent State of Awareness – the Plateau Experience (also described by Maslow as “unitive consciousness”).

1. The Plateau Experience: A. H. Maslow and Others
This transcript (edited by Stanley Krippner)  features a panel discussion  Abraham Maslow discussing transcendence and the plateau experience (plateau experience being equivalent to Persistent Non-Symbolic Experience, and Maslow’s peak experiences equivalent to Temporary Non-Symbolic Experience?)

“The Second Interdisciplinary Conference on the Voluntary Control of Internal States was held at Council Grove, Kansas, April 13-17, 1970. A. H. Maslow was among the participants and, on April 16, engaged in a lengthy discussion concerning transpersonal psychology which was tape recorded. The content of that discussion is printed here for the first time.”
