Woman in a Man’s Body

Have come to the conclusion am a woman trapped in a man’s body !

Let’s examine the facts:

  • I hang around with women. Every group I am involved with is overwhelmingly female. Even on WordPress, almost all my co-bloggers are female.
  • Women are supposed to be more verbal, language oriented. Am so. Math is not so interesting to me.  Just saying.
  • Never found female behavior all that inscrutable. Now men’s behavior…                   that’s another thing !
  • Am at ease with these elements characteristic of some female society: sharing feelings, talking about relationships and introspection, co-operative activity, cleanliness to a fault.
  • Am not at ease with these elements characteristic of some male society: physical competitiveness, hierarchy, extrospection, leering at women, laughing at bodily functions, cleanliness as an afterthought.
  • For many years, was involved in complementary healthcare. Hung around nurses, still overwhelmingly female.  Sometimes, I was the only man present.
  • For five years worked as a hospice volunteer. Essentially all women again.
  • Saw Sharon Saltzberg when she came to Tucson AZ in 2007. Of 115 attendees, 19 were men, counting this man.
  • Am not very adept at building or fixing things  !

  1. My husband is the same except he is very good at fixing things. Well, and he’s great at math. But all other counts, very like you.

Very kind of you to remark so, Amrita ! Over time, I have from necessity learned to fix most of what breaks in the house; I just don’t feel very confident or take much enjoyment in so doing. Kind regards, – d
