Silent Retreat Haiku

Took several books of haiku on the retreat, including
The Life and Poetry of Zen Master Ryokan
by Kazuaki Tanahashi.

The week of the retreat was quite mild. Much of the snow on the ground melted, and then it rained for a couple days. So the attempt to penetrate the National Forest trail remained just that, albeit deeply peaceful.
