What do we need , really ?
For six days, I joyfully lived without the following:
The internet/computer
Television/radio
Coffee
Candy
Meat/Poultry/Fish
Snack foods
Fermented beverages
Dinner
Given how most of these are part of daily life, makes me wonder how long it would be before I actually missed them.
What did I eat ?
Oatmeal/hot cereal (the latter did have sugar in it)
Bag of frozen mixed vegetables
3 lbs. apples
1 lb. mozzarella cheese
jar of unsalted nuts (peanuts & cashews)
raisins
green tea
Breakfast and Lunch only.
Some days a hand-full of nuts in the evening.
Total cost for groceries; less than $30.00.
Nothing ran out – took food back home.
[ Wi-fi was available – I chose to leave the computer at home.]
Beautiful, Dominic. Wish I lived closer to that retreat center…
The lower cost for rent may make up for some of the cost of traveling, if you ever wanted to try it. Also, the more weeks the stay, the lower it is per week. Some people do a month or more in silence there.
we don’t need much do we … i loved drinking juices for a week and eating sparsely the fortnight after … so much energy, much more than when digesting big meals …
About 10 or 11 years ago I did raw food for several months. Usually ~80%, some days 100 %. Felt fantastic. Lots of chewing, that’s for sure !
Also around that time for a year or two did monthly fasting from lunch until breakfast the next morning. What a good practice to let the organs have a little rest !
they appreciate it don’t they? 🙂 i have never done raw food except for juicing … but here we eat what we grow mostly …
Awesome. No poison. Excellent.
Excellent. Poison-free.
exactly, and low kilometre food … just a few steps ;-D
